@childocdtherapist: Sometimes OCD doesn’t just change what someone thinks, it changes how they speak. To someone on the outside, these behaviors can look confusing, dramatic, or even quirky. But they’re often compulsions, attempts to reduce distress or prevent something terrible from happening. When we understand why these behaviors are happening, we can respond in ways that support recovery instead of accidentally strengthening OCD. I am currently experiencing this a ton! it's so marked at this point, that I'm pausing my speech and sound completely impaired. I am constantly trying to find the "perfect" word to add and often requires for me to reconsider the whole phrase over and over again and analyze in detail what words I should use which, as uncan imagine, it delays my conversation, it's not fluent at all and full of very unusual words I choose. I often have to even practice in my head before commenting bc i want to make sure tone, intention, words, accents, description, even speed and rithm it's correct. Very exhausting and actually am a little embarrassed as I write this 😞
