These husbands should NOT get a free pass. They were complicit with KNOWING their wives were not in a good headspace and just went on with their daily lives.

Religion in general with postpartum depression are disgusting. I grew up LDS and when I asked for help, I was told to pray it away. I had intense postpartum depression. Thank God I had a good system around me if people willing to help.

I’ve seen women start to talk more about their ppd experience. it’s so sad that ppd isn’t treated carefully because so many of these tragedies could be avoided

These cases hit me so close to home. When I was 5 months pp in 2014 I ended up in a psych ward three separate times, went through several attempts to end my own life, and at one point my psychiatrist had me on NINE different mental health medications. I had no idea what I went through was postpartum until last year when I went through it almost all over again after my last baby 😭🙏

I feel everyone failed her especially her husband. He had vows for better or for worse in sickness and in health. PERIOD. He was too busy skiing and on brunch dates. Andrea Yates was the same. Both failed.

Interesting that both Andrea Yates & Lindsay Clancy were both RNs. I think there’s something to be said about how healthcare workers often underestimate or ignore their own mental or physical health until it significantly worsens. Caregivers often struggle with being neglectful of caring for themselves. (Speaking as a nurse myself & no I am not trying to justify their actions*)
