Today, John Healey confirmed the date, and while we don’t know exactly what’s coming yet, his comments do give us a few clues. He seems keen to shift more decision-making closer to local communities rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach from Westminster. It’ll be interesting to see how that translates into the Budget itself. For me, the biggest question is whether we’ll finally see measures that make a real difference to the cost of living. And I’d also love to see fiscal drag addressed, because so many people are paying more tax simply because wages have risen while tax thresholds have stayed frozen.
