I think that people don’t understand that this was when he had just became a vampire so he hadn’t lived as much seen as much or knew as much later when he’s with Louis he’s been alive for a very long time. Had a lot of bad things happen. Those are two different relationships. Those are two different people in relationships. And this show does a really good job at showing that. But trauma lives in your body forever and that’s the whole reason Claudia was made. Nikki is the reason he made Claudia for Louis.

Gabriella sees MH as a weakness and that only the most monstrous/fittest are worth surviving. She doesn’t understand or rejects the loneliness that comes with the Dark Gift. She doesn’t understand emotional intimacy and Lestat is calling her out that what they have is not enough, it’s shallow and not lasting. Magnus leaves when he says ‘love fades and you’ll stay with resentment’ - another callout that all Lestat feels is resentment for him. Both of them believed the Dark Gift was never a curse. But the song tells Nicki he wasn’t alone, that Lestat understands and wish he hadn’t gone to the fire. It sees Louis’s struggle and tells him not to go. I love this sequence so much.
