@lingtonsax: Yesterday would have been my musical hero's #davidsanborn 81st birthday! He was the reason why I picked up the sax and ultimately decided to move to America to pursue a professional career as a saxophonist! We lost David two years ago and I've seen so many beautiful tributes in the last day and I wanted to add mine. His career and ultimately passing had such an impact on me that I decided to record a tribute to him on my latest album, reimagining one of his songs, Goodbye, that resonated so deeply to me. I was with David four months before his passing and had an opportunity to talk to him for a long time which turned out to be the last time I saw him. I'm so grateful for that visit and particularly our chat about this song (Goodbye) and how special it was to me! I consider it a masterpiece, but what was interesting is that David didn't remember writing or recording it. Happy Heavenly Birthday David, and thank you for your inspiration to all us Sax players ❤️
