Something needs to be done , the way they give carers trainings sooka they should also give the families of service users something to learn

Thats true these people who get higher roles if u look at it properly they dont even qualify to be there it’s just nepotism at time they are family and they get promoted so hence when they are there they abuse their power and carers suffer , insane rotas etc, you end up taking negative energy to your family which is not right, this uk is draining people physically and emotionally shem

We have a client we care for who lives with her partner, and every visit is incredibly difficult. He is openly racist, constantly tells us we don't know what we're doing, insults us, shouts at us, and even refuses to let us sit on the couch. He also won't allow us to use their toilet, despite us being there to provide care for his partner.
I understand that he may have his own personal struggles, but that doesn't give anyone the right to treat care workers with disrespect or racism. From what we've been told, even the client's own children don't get along with him. We go there to do our jobs and provide the best care possible, not to be abused.

Learn not to put it at heart. You are looking after vulnerable people and mostly with no capacity. It shouldn’t really affect your life outside work.

hence kune supervision support. Request client change or an mdt can be held to manage such patients. Most carers they do not report such cases and they suffer in silence🤦🏾♀️
