Every scratch, crease, stain, missing detail, and faded area has to be evaluated one section at a time. Much of it is still painstaking hand work in Photoshop. AI has come a long way, and it can be a helpful starting point. But it still struggles with accuracy. It often changes facial features, invents details that were never there, or makes people look like someone else entirely. When you're restoring a treasured family photograph, preserving the person is far more important than simply making the image look "clean." For me, restoration isn't about creating a prettier photo—it's about preserving memories as faithfully as possible. That still takes patience, experience, and a whole lot of manual work.
