@financein90s: 📉Meta collapsed after earnings, here’s what you need to know: ✅Topline growth is strong - up 28% year over year, not falsely inflated by currency volatility ❌EPS missed 13%, but was primarily due to one-off costs (legal + severance). Note - management did state there may be material impacts from ongoing legal proceedings. This means we could have more of these legal costs pop up in future earnings. ❌Costs jumped significantly year over year - related to the one off costs mentioned above. Take these out, the overall business still became less profitable year over year by 6%. We’ll have to see if this becomes a trend or they can stabilize, scale, and return to higher margins. ⚠️CAPEX guidance tightend (slightly increased the low end estimate) and free cash flow was decimated this quarter. Expected, but markets don’t like it especially when Meta’s one of the few spending this money without an existing cloud business to show massive revenue and operating profits. Argument can be made that the acceleration in the ads business is thanks to this buildout - but still not as strong of an argument as say Amazon - which has both cloud + advertising. ⚠️350 billion in off balance sheet debt. ~50b may be added in 2026, ~80b in 2027. Contingent on actual delivery of compute / data center buildout - so some may not be realized. ✅After the decline, Meta trades at a roughly 17x forward earnings and 11x operating cash flow — the cheapest it's been in a decade outside the 2022 crash. ✅Meta’s network and massive moat are undeniably powerful. The business has a lot of optionality and distribution to scale new revenue lines. Still bullish and will nibble on dips while keeping my sizing appropriate for my risk tolerance. Meta is the only one with no real roi on ai capex as of yet, or at least very minimal compared to goog, msft, amzn. It’s been proven atp. I think if meta goes below 500 it’s a very good long term.

Sub $600, Meta is a buy for me. Down to sub $550 it’s a bargain. I’ve loaded up as much as I can and averaged down. I’ll slowly grow it in my portfolio until 2030/31, then look at taking gains.

there are some positives, but high debt can put meta on an very risky path, especially when competition becomes more deadly with digital ads from ai chats.
