What hurts the most is seeing where the priorities lie. There are billions of dollars readily available to build shiny new stadiums for the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, yet there is seemingly nothing left for the fundamental needs of our society. Our healthcare system is broken. People are paying out of pocket for basic, life-saving necessities like insulin and asthma inhalers. Women in labour are forced to prove they have money before they can even enter a hospital to give birth safely.
