Also we would like to address some comments we have seen… We do not take putting senior dogs under anesthesia lightly. Alice had bloodwork and was cleared by our veterinarian before surgery. Her mammary mass needed to be removed and leaving it would have caused more pain and risk. When she woke up, her cry sounded intense and heartbreaking because of all she has been through. As a vocal little dog, it felt like she was trying to tell us something. Medically, some crying during anesthesia recovery is common and temporary. She was monitored the entire time and comforted as soon as it was safe. Alice is still at the vet recovering and will be at the sanctuary later today. She is safe and already showing signs of feeling better, running around and eating. She is still a little sassy and we love her for it. 🤍 ———————————————————————— Alice woke up crying… And honestly? So did we. 🥺 This tiny 18 year old Chihuahua went through so much today. A spay, a dental, and a mammary mass removal… all in one day. When Alice came out of anesthesia, she cried with this raw, primal sound that doesn’t need words to break your heart completely. Being 18 years old and dumped can make you cranky. Alice is grateful, we can tell, but she’s still a little sassy about the whole thing and we are here for it. She will come around. And if she doesn’t, that is okay too. All we want is to show this little girl what it feels like to be truly loved and cared for, no strings attached. We’re going to show her what unconditional love looks like, for however many precious days she has left. Cranky and all🤍 Today, our rescue spent $1,400 on her procedures. We’ve raised $0. If Alice’s cry moved you the way it moved us, please consider donating to her care. Every single dollar tells this little older gal that she matters, that it wasn’t too late for her! 👉 Link in bio to donate #rescuedog #chihuahua #senior #medical
