I have a family member who was baker acted for threatening suicide when they were a teenager. The hospital put them on a mandatory 72 hour hold. Whether they were serious about it, I don't really know but they told me the only thing it really accomplished was they didn't trust the family who baker acted them ever again.

What if I told you emotionally compromised mothers in a very extreme case (most baker acts are on teens/adults) may not be your best source of information on this.

The baker act and similar laws are very useful tools that do a lot to protect society and mentally ill individuals from mentally ill individuals. with a 6-year-old part of me has to wonder if the parent is the issue rather than mental illness.
