@lets.grow.gardening: We’ve all heard it: “Plant marigolds everywhere and you’ll never have pests.” 🌼 Turns out… that’s only telling half the story. Marigolds are incredible plants, but their biggest superpower happens below the soil, not above it. If you’re trying to stop aphids, hornworms, or other common garden pests, there are much better companion plants to reach for. The more I learn about companion planting, the more I realize it’s less about garden folklore and more about understanding why each plant works. Which gardening advice should I fact-check next? 👇 #gardening #companionplanting #vegetablegarden #gardentips #gardenscience

Pls talk about earwigs - give me all you got! Last year I actually transferred them outside again if I found some on flowers or veg. This year, they are so plentiful and literally everywhere. They have taken down many many seedlings of all varieties this year. Do you know what’s happening? I’ve done lots of oil/soy traps, hand-picked, and deterred them with garlic/pepper spray. I’d love to know more, pls. Thanks. 😍

the parasitic wasp larvae still take 8-10 days to kill a hornworm. it'll still eat parts of your plant, but it will curb the damage for sure!
