The National Urban League has been holding its annual conference in Nashville this week at the Music City Center, bringing thousands of thought leaders, experts, advocates and activists together to discuss topics related to social justice and defending democracy. National Urban League president Marc Morial opened the conversation about policy reform and the redistricting of the congressional map that was voted on earlier this year. Harris responded by pushing back on what she described as a decline in democracy at the state and federal levels, along with Tennessee's decision to redraw its congressional district map. "They backdoored racism through politics in that decision," Harris said.
