Warm take: But Jake should have been the RE9 Action Protagonist counterpart. I know they wanted to have Leon, and many more wanted Jill, but Jake has both the least and most to do with the storyline, making his perspective match well. He is pretty much the last living Wesker making it linked to Oswald Spencer's legacy. Grace's whole story is that she's harboring a legacy of Raccoon City and Umbrella's sins, similar to how Jake is, to some extent, one as well, along with Sherry. Zeno is a speculated clone/someone who is mimicking Wesker, so it would allow for there to be a narratively driven Zeno boss fight where Jake ends up having to fight a ghost/copy of his father, ala Metal Gear 1 with Solid Snake fighting Venom. He has every narrative reason to be there if we keep the story the same, and yet he gets 0 appearance nor mention
