Back in 2018 I went into ED with severe stoma retraction and mucocutaneous separation, a fever of 39.2c, and blood pressure was quite low. They sent me back home due to having no beds. I went back two days later and was finally admitted after 10 hours waiting. 5 days later I finally went in for surgery with a new surgeon as my old surgeon stuffed the surgery up 9 times before that. Once I was back up to the ward my surgeon told me I was lucky to have surgery when I did as it turned to sepsis and said I would’ve only had a few days to live if I didn’t. The day before my surgery I had a temp of 39.4, low blood pressure, heart rate of 144 and a diabetic low all at once (I’m not a diabetic) I remember coming to it afterwards with 6 icu nurses all standing around me trying to figure out what to do. I now struggle with medical trauma any time I enter a hospital and they’ve put it in my charts that I’m a difficult patient anytime I need a procedure done like removing/inserting tubes, iv lines mine always tissue after 1 day, or if they have to touch my stomach after an operation. I was never like that beforehand. 😢

I waited almost a hour in ed to see the triage nurse. I told the front desk I had chest pain and my heart rate was 250bmp and told them i felt like passing out and my hands were numb and I was breathless. they told me if it was thag high I wouldn't pass out. anyway when I finally seen the triage nurse, she told me my heart rate wasnt that high and I was anxious and thats why i was breathless. anyway my heart rate was 292bmp and my oxygen was low and bp was super high. everything got busy fast and I got rushed to a room with drs. it was some sort of svt episode where they almost had to shock my heart back into a regular rythem or give me a medicine that would temporarily stop my heart. I thought I was going to die in the waiting room before getting seen , all because I'm a young female who wasnt taken seriously and everyone assumed I was just anxious

Went to ER with tummy pain and waited 11hrs before seeing a doctor. He said everything was fine and not to worry about my elevated CRP levels. 3 weeks later, I went back because the pain had not improved, and gps I had seen in those 3 weeks gave me different diagnoses, waited 12+hrs before finally being seen by a doctor and they found my appendix had ruptured and looked like it had ruptured a while ago.

My partner was two days post op from knee replacement and was showing every sign for infection and was in excruciating pain and it took hours and hours to even get pain meds or ice and to get seen, I have never seen someone in that much pain before. Ended up admitted for 5 days on IV antibiotics and liquid morphine didn't even take the edge of his pain 🙃

As an ambo, I 100% recommend calling an ambulance for chest pain. The sad thing is the gentleman in question would likely still be alive if he had. We can do ECGs and give medications to stabilise most things before you get to hospital.

I got laughed at when I went in saying it felt like I was going through labour by a male doctor. Then made me wait 3 days to eat cause they didn’t communicate with each other properly. My appendix was about to burst.

Yip, it's bad atm, last week Wednesday I had to call an ambulance for my son, we kept calling back because he kept getting worse, he was in agony, after 2 hours, the exhaustion wore him out... I canceled the ambulance, took him to the hospital later after he woke up, he was so lucky... he was admitted straight away, then after a few tests, booked for surgery ... he's been home for a few days now... it was serious, I could of lost my son...

I've recently had swelling in one leg, and in my other thigh to the point i was unable to walk normally. I've had extreme chest pains 4x followed by fatigue and nausea that feel like heart attacks but arent. in the last week my arm and bicep area has also started swelling and now I can't fully bend or straighten it due to pain. I've had ecgs, ct scans, ultrasounds, multiple blood tests and have 0 answers. everytime they send me home with "take panadol and come back if it happens again". I have no idea whats wrong with me but im in alot of pain and am tired of going back to the hospital just to be sent home again after waiting 6+ hours each time while having 6-10 episodes of chest pains, dizzyness and almost passing out eachtime in the waiting room. My first blood test for d-himer came back for blood clotting. 3 weeks later my next blood test showed nothing. this is so frustrating. Our system is screwed. theyre understaffed, underpaid, not enough space and people are being treated in hallways and the waiting areas. Something needs to be done. theyre not taking me seriously. my doctors have no appointments for about a month and a half.

There was a man who died in the bathroom of ED at Waikato Hospital only a month ago. They made him wait too. That’s how it happened. I was working there at the time.
