Good points however what u missed is that Leopold is married to Anthropic CEO and co-founder Dario Amodei's Chief of Staff. As such the private book will likely be just fine based on the anticipated value of Anthropic at its anticipated IPO value. Anthropic is the next Microsoft or Google. I understand u were making a different point but the point I am making us that because so close to Anthropic he is the backing to weather the storm so its not a typical situation like u r calling attention to regarding mark to market values of private vs public books.

I totally understand! Thanks for explaining for civilians. I still can’t fathom 4x leverage though I know London firms are 150x levered. Still 4x is wreckless

They were still pricing all the MBS & CDOs at full 'model value' well into 2007. Some even into 2008. It eventually catches up to you as we all saw.
