Seulgi’s bullet found its mark through the window. The terrorist fell. The platform gave way beneath the child. Without thinking— Lisa sprinted forward. She caught the little girl in her arms just before she hit the ground. Concrete crashed around them. Dust filled the warehouse. Silence. “…Captain!” Jisoo rushed over first. Lisa slowly stood, shielding the child beneath her body. Blood trickled from a cut above her eyebrow. The little girl buried her face against Lisa’s shoulder, trembling uncontrollably.
"I'm scared..." Lisa gently brushed the child’s hair away from her face. Her voice, usually so commanding, softed into a warm, gentle melody. "It's alright now. You're safe. I promise." Standing up with the child cradled securely in her arms, Lisa walked out into the dawning light. The moment the child’s mother saw them, she broke down in tears and ran forward. “My baby…” Lisa carefully placed the girl into her mother’s arms. The woman held her daughter tightly before looking at Lisa with tear-filled eyes. “Thank you…” Lisa simply nodded. "It's our duty. No one gets left behind." ⸻ An hour later… The storm had begun to calm. Task Force Sparrow gathered beside the helicopters while military medics checked everyone for injuries. BamBam stared at the bandage above Lisa’s eyebrow. "You know, Captain," BamBam sighed, shaking his head. "You really have a bad habit of using your skull to stop falling concrete." Jackson snorted, grabbing a bottle of water. "I've been saying this for three years. She thinks she's Iron Man." Lisa caught the water bottle Jackson threw her, wincing slightly as she twisted the cap. “I’ll survive.” “You always say that.” “I always do.” Even Jisoo smiled. Suddenly, the relaxed atmosphere vanished. "Attention!" Jisoo barked. The entire squad instantly snapped into a flawless, rigid salute as a high-ranking officer marched down the tarmac, flanked by aides. It was General Manoban. "At ease," the General said, his voice heavy with authority. He stopped right in front of Lisa, his eyes narrowing as they landed on the bloody bandage on her forehead. “I assume that’s your definition of ‘minor injuries.’” "The hostages were successfully evacuated with zero civilian casualties, Sir," Lisa reported, staring straight ahead. "I didn't ask about the hostages. I asked about your face." "It's a scratch. It'll heal, Sir." The General sighed heavily, his stern facade cracking to reveal a glimpse of immense fatherly worry and pride deep in his eyes. "Your mother is going to kill me when she sees you now," he muttered under his breath, dropping his rank for just a split second. "She already blames me for letting you join Special Forces." "Then we just won't tell her about this one, Sir," Lisa replied smoothly, not missing a beat. The General shook his head, looking at her with amused fondness. "You've been giving me that exact same stubborn attitude since you were a cadet at the academy." A rare, genuine smirk played on Lisa's lips. "I learned from the very best, General." Before the General could reply, another officer hurried over, handing him a red folder stamped with a bold, black seal. CLASSIFIED “Sir.” The General opened it. His face hardened instantly. The air around them grew cold. He looked up, his gaze fixing on Lisa with absolute seriousness. "Captain Manoban." Lisa stepped forward. "Sir." "Your squad is being re-deployed. Effective immediately." He handed her the folder. Lisa flipped it open. Inside were satellite images of utter devastation. A massive, 7.8 magnitude earthquake had just ripped through a neighboring territory in the Mediterranean. Thousands were feared dead or trapped beneath the rubble. Hospitals had collapsed. Entire towns had disappeared. "An international humanitarian disaster," the General stated. "Alpha Team is being sent in to establish a base of operations, and lead the search and rescue." Lisa snapped the folder shut, her eyes burning with a sudden, sharp intensity. “Departure?” "0600 tomorrow." Lisa saluted sharply. "Alpha Team will be ready." #jenlisa #fyp
