My friend did it. Her ex used post legal abuse. She gave him custody. Within 6 months he dragged her back to court and offered pay double child support. He lost out on a promotion, Using sick days for Vacation for kids school schedules and actives, doctors and therapy etc. He didn't understand the invisible labor and sacrifices that are made being the primary parent. The judge told him BOTH parties have to agree to switch back. My friend refused. She likes being the weekend warrior parent, her relationship is better because she gets to be a parent and a friend.

I mentioned moving out of state after going through a divorce. The ex yelled that I cant keep him from his kids! I expeditiously said they can live with him. He blinked real long 3 times and never brought it up again.

I gave up the constant custody fight over my 15 year old daughter to let her father have full custody. 6 months later he woke up blind and called me begging me to come get her because she wouldn’t listen to nothin he said. I laughed till he hung up on me.

The biggest factor is the men thinking their child support pays all the bills . When it’s reversed, they realize it barely covers the basics . Kids cost a lot of $$$.

Our daughter wasn’t even a year old when her dad told me he needed to “have a life” and didn’t want to get her anymore. I said ‘Okay,’ and let him be. Then he started telling people that I kept our daughter from him. 😐

Cause it was never about the kids they just wanted to hurt mom. They don’t want to parent fr. My dad lived with us and barely did any parenting.

My dad would fight my mom for custody of me. I was at the age I could tell he didn't want me. He just wanted my mom back and to make her feel trapped. The rage it filled me with knowing. I started going over voluntarily during the divorce. He was never home. Made sure to go 3-5 days a week just so I could tell my mom to pick me up come night because he never came home. Eventually I started throwing house parties because my friends knew my dad's house was empty. How fast he told my mom to stop letting me come over. I knew which is why I went no contact afterwards. Wasn't even hard to do. I just had to not call him and he never tried to call me.

A friend did this. They split property without much issue. He was being a dick about child support and seeing the kids. At mediation, she finally just asked him what he thought was fair. He said something like every other weekend/holidays and $500 a month child support (for 3 kids). She said fine and agreed to that. Said she will have the kids every other weekend and pay $500 a month. He was like, no, wait. But he had no recourse because that's what he asked for. He lasted a month before he was begging for modification.
