On ne parle pas assez de l’effet reverse de la déception. Le traumatisme peut vraiment te changer te faire devenir une autre personne petit à petit donner naissance à une version très sombre de toi

A California woman who saw a driver speeding before two young brothers were hit in a crosswalk said she was "sickened" by the driver's age and appearance. The driver was Rebecca Grossman, and the woman witnessed the moments before Grossman struck and killed 11-year-old Mark and 8-year-old Jacob Iskander in a crosswalk near Westlake Village in west Los Angeles County on Sept. 29, 2020. Pamela Curry testified in a video deposition played for jurors on Wednesday (May 20) in the civil trial over Nancy and Karim Iskander's wrongful death lawsuit. Rebecca Grossman hit and killed the Iskanders' sons Mark, 11, and Jacob, 8, with her 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG in a crosswalk near Westlake Village in west Los Angeles County on Sept. 29, 2020. Grossman, 62, is serving 15 years to life in prison. Prosecutors dismissed a misdemeanor reckless driving charge against her boyfriend, retired Major League Baseball pitcher Scott Erickson, who was speeding in a black SUV near her, after he recorded a public service announcement about safe driving. Both are defendants in the wrongful death jury trial that entered its 18th day of testimony today (Thursday, May 21) in Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Huey Cotton's courtroom. Curry testified in Grossman's criminal trial in 2024 and again on July 22, 2025, in the video deposition for the wrongful death lawsuit. She said she saw two other white vehicles and doesn't recall seeing a black vehicle that would have been Erickson's, but her testimony indicates she was focused on Grossman and her speeding SUV. Curry was walking by Westlake Lake when she saw a speeding SUV and noticed "a woman driving the car." "She looked like she was having fun and looking back over her shoulder, and I was disappointed that I would see a grown woman not even looking forward as she's driving fast," Curry testified. She said she used the word "jovial" when testifying in Grossman's criminal trial "but she was just smiling, smiling." "And so since she was looking back over her shoulder, I thought, or you know, there must be another one coming, but I just was in such shock that I would see an adult driving that fast in that area at that time, early evening," Curry testified. "I just really wanted to see who was driving that car, because I just, I thought it was not in that neighborhood, not at that time of day," Curry continued. "It's just, sorry — it just really sickened me." #driving #law #crime #court
