I actually learned that Italian American food is so good because when all the poorer Italians immigrated to the US, they suddenly had access to meat, cheese, and other expensive foods, so they just went ham with it.

the original italian immagrants that came to america didnt have access to ingredients like certian kinds of meats, cheeses, certian spices, and certian vegetables as most of it was believed to only belong to the rich upper classes. so coming to america where they werent limited by the social bounderies of their culture these immagrants proceeded to expiriment and make new dishes that became insanely popular which lead to the modern day italian-american dishes we have today. this happens with pretty much every culture thats brought into america
