![The ballroom where the premiere of Her in Frame was being held was filled with bright lights that night. The red carpet stretched from the main entrance all the way to the center of the venue, surrounded by cameras, reporters, and fans who had been waiting since the afternoon to see the cast arrive. In the middle of all the excitement, Lena stood in a white dress that fell all the way to the floor. Her hair was styled neatly, with a few loose strands framing her face. Her smile never really disappeared whenever a camera was pointed at her, even though her eyes sometimes wandered around, looking for a face she already knew would not be there that night. Miu. The phone inside the small clutch held by her manager still had their conversation from a few hours earlier. Lena didn’t even need to open the screen to remember what Miu had said. She had read the messages so many times that the words were still playing in her head. [Miu — 2:42 PM] ”I don’t think I can make it tonight.” ”I still have a lot of work to finish, and they said I probably won’t be done until tonight.” ”Don’t be sad, okay? Just focus on your event for now. I’ll look at all the photos later.” At that time, Lena had been sitting in the makeup room while several people from her team were still busy fixing the last details of her look. She stared at the message for a while before finally typing something. [Lena — 2:43 PM] “I’m not sad.” She stared at the sentence for a few seconds. Then, as if she couldn’t lie anymore, she sent another message. [Lena — 2:45 PM] “I’m lying. I’m sad because you can’t come.” Miu’s reply came not long after. [Miu — 2:46 PM] “I’m sorry, love. She didn’t want to make Miu feel guilty about work, especially because she knew Miu would come if she had the chance. Still, there was a small part of her that felt empty when she imagined standing at her first movie premiere without Miu among the people she loved. It wasn’t because Lena had no one. Her family, friends, coworkers, the cast, director, crew, and thousands of fans were all there that night to celebrate the movie with her. Everyone gave her smiles, congratulations, and support that made her heart feel full. It was just that, among all those people, Lena still felt like there was one place that was supposed to be filled by someone. She tried not to think about it. Tonight was a night she had been waiting for so long. So Lena smiled again when the photographers called her name. She lifted her chin slightly before moving from one camera to another. She greeted everyone in front of her warmly, sometimes laughing at the reporters’ jokes, and tried to enjoy every second of the night that had finally come after months of hard work. But deep down, there was still one little hope. ‘She was hoping her girlfriend would be there’. ⸻ After a few photo sessions, Lena moved to the interview area. The reporters were already waiting with microphones and cameras pointed at her. One question came after another, from how she felt about being the lead actress, what it was like working with Tor Thanapob, to how it felt to finally see the movie she had only known from the script actually being shown to so many people. Lena answered every question with a smile that was getting harder and harder to hide. She was still a little nervous, but she was too happy that night to let it take over. When one of the reporters asked what she felt after seeing her name as the lead actress, Lena went quiet for a few seconds before answering in a softer voice. “It feels like… I finally made it here.” Her smile grew after that. “I used to only imagine this. And now it’s really happening.” The cameras started clicking again. A few reporters nodded and smiled before the interview slowly came to an end.
