I did it last November!! A 4th floor walk up because I also wanted to live like a local…and I hate it:) I only live there part time and when this lease is up in November I’m switching to an elevator. I’m 45, let’s be friends:)

That’s great and I can totally see how this would be fun for others. NY will always have a special place in my heart especially since my family still lives there but for me as someone born and raised and just visited last weekend i absolutely never ever ever want to move back to NY. Not even when my kids are older and gone. It’s not the same place for me anymore. It’s hostile, dirty, rude and overly expensive and driving out there is awful. I love my peace in the country.

I lived there for five years. Absolutely worth it. Maybe I’ll live there again someday. But if not I will visit as often as possible. I always tell people if you have even a small urge to live in NYC, do it. Or the regret will eat you alive.

I think people feel it or don’t about New York. And if you do you just get it. This is the best city in the world. I also think everyone should live in the city at some point in their lives. You should realize this dream.

That’s great if your heart is truly happy living there. I’m a born and raised nyer/long islander and it took several years of my 20s and 30s to realize I really hated living in the city. I hated being around so much hostile energy, I hated the noise and the difficulty of getting to places, hated not being around nature, hated being approached by so many people wanting something from me and having to protect my energy. I do still think it is different staying in an air bnb and living there day to day. But you seem like your heart is set on it so I say go for it
