I couldn’t bear to touch the scar from my cancer surgery. I managed to trick myself into massaging it by putting a folded towel over it and then massaging through the towel.

Hi! Pelvic floor PT here. I recommend seeing a pelvic floor PT for silicone cupping on the incision! It helps desensitize the area :)

A friend recommended a face roller to massage it (I never had any issues in touching it, but I found it just easier to do!), hope that helps!

I had a breast reduction and had to do the scar massages and touching them tweaked me so bad but I started near the edges until it stopped freaking me out and go over it eventually

I had wrist surgery and touching the scar gave me this feeling. It helped me to put a towel over it and massage that way or even wear a glove. Clearly lots of lotion with both of these

Not a C section, but I had a heart/liver transplant - I’m nearly 8 years post and there’s still parts of my scar that I cannot touch because of how yuck it feels.

Does it hurt to touch? Or you can’t mentally bring yourself to touch it? A lot of people’s scars are numb after..and for years after!

Former prenatal/postpartum personal trainer here. Start by massaging around the scar but not touching it. That will make it easier and less scary to touch the scar itself with time. ♥️Going to pelvic floor PT is a great idea too

I haven’t had a c-section but I have had brain surgery and I hated the idea of touching my scar but it’s been a year now and it’s fine now but it took me until the stitches were out and a few weeks after before i could touch it myself.

This is actually a fear/psychological thing. My brother has always had a fear of touching scars. It may never go away. Lots of people have it. I think its technically called "scar aversion".
