Socialism or Capitalism or Communism: A Breakdown we can all understand. Let’s use a Farmers Co-op as our Business Example, and examine the farm under all 3 types of Government: Socialism: Under Socialism the Farm has full Worker Ownership. The farm belongs entirely to the people who work the land, not a private investor or landlord. Management is collective among the workers. Decisions about crops, hours, and investments are made democratically by the members. Profits are distributed among the workers based on their labor or equal shares, rather than going to a CEO. Capitalism: In capitalism, a single owner or group of shareholders owns the farm and pays wages to workers, keeping the majority of profit for themselves tho they do little of the actual work for it. Trickle down economics doen’t work and there is no reason why someone should work a full time job in this country and still need to apply for State relief—but it happens so often because those guys at the top control your income. If you have more, then they have less leverage to keep you there working for them. Communism: Under strict state communism (like historical Soviet collective farms), the centralized government owns the land and dictates production quotas from above, rather than the local workers running it independently. Historically, Communist Countries have never reached any kind of equality. At harvest time, the state takes its mandatory quota of the best of the crops at very low, government-set prices to feed the cities. Next, the farm sets aside seed for the next year and pays for tractor rentals. Whatever crops and cash were left over at the end of the year were divided by the total number of Labor-Days earned by all workers. If a worker held 5% of the total Days of labor, they received 5% of the remaining food and cash. The State Government was always the biggest winner. So now that you’ve seen the same farm under different management types, which would you prefer?
