Especially considering how upset MJ was that Peter decided on behalf of her that she shouldn’t know who he is, or that they were close, or that she has major gaps in what actually happened to her in high school. Someone else denied her that knowledge of her own self and experiences, and then someone denied her autonomy again when Jean took over her body and made her do something she clearly wouldn’t do just to taunt Peter. Peter telling MJ what happened when she didn’t remember (unlike before) was also him proving to her that he understood his mistake
