Yeah, I lacked self awareness and I had to do years worth of work to address this and it came at a heavy price but I'm glad that I was able to have the courage to face this

Lot of people claim to be emotionally intelligent but when emotions run high they don’t know what to do

Because emotions have their own “logic” and logic in emotional situations is juts a lack of emotional intelligence

Sometimes that’s the own way of letting you know that they don’t have capacity to hold you… true, they don’t really know what to do.

I had a "friend" like this. 😭 they'd always respond with stuff like "this book that I was reading...", "this one podcast I was listening to..." like okay...

Not for nothing, That ADHD brain of mine sometimes kicks in fast! I say sometimes because I worked hard to work on them active listening skills. What I am proud of is if I do slip and use logic to one of my kids first, my 14yo will put me in my place. lol " Do you think it's good that you didn't just listen? Why didn't you validate? That wasn't a good job for logic!" I stay quite for a bit, nod, and respond with. I stand corrected. I apologize. I'll continue to work on staying quiet. Most times they accept the apologize. Other times, they say, thank you for apologizing. If they can't stand up to me, how are they going to have the confidence to stand up to other adults?!
