That Sheriff clearly has no control over his own staff and sounds more like a politician than a law-enforcement leader. He should have led with an apology for the way his deputies behaved, rather than passively ignoring their unprofessional conduct. Leadership means holding your people accountable, especially when their behavior reflects directly on the department and the badge they wear.
