I grew up on the Platteland... I remember the "Swart gevaar" propaganda. I was still a child and I remember walking home from school scares, for weeks after election. I remember some of the pamphlets that they spread. They also had a campaign encouraging coloureds to vote for them to keep Apartheid. I dont know if they did this anywhere else in South Africa. This is why I always look at any white-led party, who want coloured support, with suspicion. Even if they portray themselves as diverse, I dont trust it.

I am catholic and we were referred to as Communists and. rooi gevaar. The fear was created because NP couldn't influence and infiltrate the church. Many of the Freedom fighters were Catholic, especially the ones from Bonteheuwel.
