(Believer): Pastor, why did Jesus say, “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30)? If the Father is the only true God and Jesus is His Son, does that mean there are two Gods? Can you explain this? (Pastor): Are the Father and Jesus the same God? 99% of people misunderstand this question. Today I will make it very clear. The Bible clearly teaches that there is only one God, and it explains this truth very clearly. John 1:1 says: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:14 says: “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelled among us, full of grace and truth.” This Word is God, and the Word becoming flesh is Jesus. That is why the Lord Jesus said, “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30). This reveals a deep and beautiful truth: not two Gods, but one God who reveals Himself in different ways. In the Old Testament, God revealed Himself as Jehovah, guiding people by His Spirit. In the Age of Grace, God Himself came in the flesh, becoming a man and dwelling among us, being with us and speaking to us. This is the Lord Jesus. You can understand it like this: water can be ice or vapor—different forms, but the same essence. In the same way, God is Spirit, but in order to save us, He became man and lived among us. So why did Jesus call the God in heaven “Father”? Because while He was on earth, He spoke from a human perspective, teaching us how to pray and obey God. Just like He taught us to pray: “Our Father which are in heaven, Hallowed be Your name” (Matthew 6:9). He called God “Father” from a human perspective to help us draw closer to Him. After completing His mission and returning to heaven, there is still only one God. The way He is called “Father” and “Son” is meant to help us receive Him more easily and draw closer to Him in our human understanding. Now do you understand? There is only one God, but He reveals Himself in different ways in different ages. He is so great that out of love for us, He came into the world Himself. If you are moved by God’s love, please save this video and share it with others so more people may know Him. If this message helped you understand God, write “Amen.” If you desire to know God more deeply and learn His Word, you are welcome to contact us and join our free online sermon and fellowship group, to prepare for the Lord’s return.
