@jamaalburkmar: This movie is a A LOT of fun but it took me a second viewing to realise what wasn’t working for me underneath what is a really good Spiderman movie. #whattowatch #spiderman #spidermanbrandnewday
Sadie Sink felt more like Max than Jean Grey I'm sorry

when I was watching it, I enjoyed every moment, but once I walked out of the theater I just kept feeling like something was missing

The movie was great. It felt like a spider man movie. Not a big picture MCU movie. That's why I really love it.

I spent the whole movie wondering how he paid rent. He didn’t have a job. He felt fake broke

Idk if I'm the only one but halfway through I started feeling a little... fatigued? I felt like I was waiting for something big to happen that never came. Strangley enough, the Odyssey felt like a shorter movie to me, even though the runtime was longer. Maybe it was something with the pacing ??? Still trying to figure it out

Killing Peter off would’ve been an awful ending to the movie. Killing him off only after he learned that he can finally be his proper self would’ve been an unsatisfying ending to his character. It would also send the wrong message to Jean Grey. Also, no we all want to see this Spider-Man iteration more. There are so many stories to tell with Tom’s Spider-Man, especially now

Here's a thought, a story doesn't have to feel complete because the main character dies. What's the point of evolving a character that as soon as we feel they have, we expect them to become selfless martyrs.

I enjoyed it slightly more on a rewatch, without spoiling it I think everything in the movie is reframed and it was a new experience. There’s a lot of foreshadowing at the start of the movie that lines up with the messaging and themes of the film. Felt like a new experience but I enjoyed the villain more the second time around

I actually think the film is being brave in a much different way. Considering the whole "male loneliness epidemic" thing, and how increasingly popular red pill content is becoming, having a story where the drive isn't romance, the woman isn't evil for not reciprocating feelings, and the friendships are the actual star of the show says a lot. Much like Project Hail Mary did at the beginning of the year, having stories where they express that men shouldn't, and can't, go through all these hardships alone, that human connection and real friendships are what we need, specially in times of crisis, is a brave statement to make imo.

agreed it’s tom’s best spider man performance! personally wasn’t a fan of his other movies but i did like the new one. loved it but couldn’t get past it feeling just like a filler movie set up for the next one

I dont really agree with the idea that the movie needs to make some huge risky change just to be considered brave it just doesn’t fit spiderman movie

I think were it not for zendaya being both a superstar and tom’s wife, we could have seen a version where MJ is gone and he gets a movie or two where gwen Stacey or black cat were potential relationships- but the brand & marketing of them together is too big to pass up

watching it as someone who watched the others as a teen and this as a person in their mid 20s felt so right. There was definitely a tone shift and it felt like a film for twenty year olds and not teens. It was more mature which really resonated with me

I enjoyed this movie a lot BUT, I've said this before, there's no real villain. there's an antagonist, there's a bad guy, but no villain

No way home was never meant to be the ending of Tom’s story and they’ve made it clear time and time again that they were gonna tell new stories with Peter. And I’m sorry I do not understand how Peter abandoning his friends and never reconnecting them as fulfilling ending to his character. That’s just sad and honestly goes against every major theme this story is conveying. Eventually yes we should pass on the torch of this spider-man to the next but it’s too early.

Tom Holland Spider-Man films definitely have the worst and least memorable villians . It felt like watching stranger things when Jean grey was in that flashback with aunt may lol

I get why you'd prefer a braver direction, but I don't think Spider-Man is a character that should ever really be "let go." To me, he's different from most heroes because he represents hope in a way that's timeless. Constantly passing the mantle on has never had the same emotional impact for me.
I'd love to see one Spider-Man who actually gets the fulfilling life he's always been denied. If the MCU can tell that story while letting him exist independently rather than tying him into every major event, I'd honestly find that even braver. It would be a bold change from the cycle of endless sacrifice we've seen for decades.

SPOILERS IN THE LAST BIT:
the biggest thing that took me out, and will continue to take me out of recent marvel movies is the godawful greenscreens. its very obvious when they're filming in a green screen room, or in an actual place-
spoilers start here.
and i really wish they would've properly explored the arachnid DNA thing more. it felt very rushed.
