Each one tells you the port's speed, power, and sometimes a hidden feature. In this video, I break down what every USB port colour actually means, and which one you should be plugging into. I go through all of them: white (USB 1.0/1.1, the original slow ones), black (USB 2.0, the 480 Mbps standard that ran for twenty years), blue (USB 3.0, the jump to 5 Gbps), and teal (USB 3.2 Gen 2, twice as fast at 10 Gbps). Then the charging ports, red and yellow, which stay powered even when your laptop is off. Plus orange and green, which have no fixed meaning and change by manufacturer. I also cover why USB-C broke the whole colour system, and the port symbols (SS, SS10, SS20, USB4, and the two lightning bolts) you should actually be reading instead.
