battery acid burns to your skin in seconds I deal with batteries all the time it burns a hole through my shirt throughout the day but no holes and no skin or burnt after you're finished doing the job for 10-15 minutes then you wash your hands no big deal

Battery acid at room temperature is harmless, more so than your average concentrated sulphuric acid, which only causes a little redness even if you submerge your entire arm in it. The important part is temperature. Boiling sulphuric acid will absolutely cause third degree burns and deep tissue necrosis.
