@gnomeguy.ks: Avatar the last Airbender blood bending question. Please drop in the comments your explanation or additional questions. I'm especially interested about the distilled water. #avatarthelastairbender #atla #avatarlastairbender #anime #animation

Joe Young :

you're making the classic mistake of applying real-world physics to the world of avatar. It's not sci-fi, it's fantasy. Blood bending isn't a thing because there are H2O molecules inside human blood in enough quantity for water benders to detect it, rather bloodbendiing exists because of the metaphysical association with blood, water, and life. Waterbending is about redirecting your opponents energy and bloodbending is the ultimate form of that philosophy. I could go on all day on people arguing over the physics of bending, but in my head canon, the world of avatar doesn't have H20 or Oxygen, only "water" and "air". the world itself is not made of our periodic table of elements, but the four bending elements.
