Chosen to place one group of human beings above another? Surely not. If you use the words “chosen people,” you should also be prepared to explain what “chosen” actually means. Because being chosen cannot be a divine justification for oppression, discrimination, or the dehumanization of others. So the real question is simple: Chosen for what?

Genesis 17.8 "And I will give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land in which thou dost sojourn, all the land of Kena῾an, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." God clearly promised that Abraham will be given all of Canaan first and then his children after him. Did Abraham inherit any of Canaan? No. Abraham didn't inherit even a square foot of land, let alone the whole of canaan. Did God lie, or is the promise of land fabricated?
