I think herringbone and hexagon are timeless. Even the penny tile - very popular in early 20th century. I think the large slab is more likely to go out.

I love the small penny and mosaic tiles. You just need to use epoxy type grout. One that does not disc color or stain and if it does, it is only a buildup that can be easily cleaned.

Designer/architect here; 1. Agree, 2. Agree 3. Penny round is always in, 4. Large format is always in to an extent (depends on how you’re using it and if a bathroom is all one texture or finish then it’s out)
