this is actually insane, for an event a deposit is okay but one time i had to put my card on file for a reservation. it was mentioned on the site that it was €50 per no show person, i thought that was a bit insane for a regular italian restaurant where a pasta dish costs €18… but i knew it wouldn’t be a problem bc i’ve never even been late to a reservation. it was a reservation for 6 people and we were driving in 2 vehicles. 4 of us arrived 20 minutes in advance and just decided to wait outside for the other two. they were 10 minutes away so when they didn’t show up at the reservation time we went inside. after sitting at the table for 5-10 minutes we got a call, turns out the other two people were in a car crash and both injured in the hospital. the server heard my mom telling us this happened and we also told her when ordering why it would be just 4 of us. we ate “(our check ended up being €142 for the 4 of us and we tipped €38, even though it’s not even customary to tip here) 2 days later my card was still charged €100 for the 2 people not showing up…
