This happened to me recently, the train said it was cancelled because it stopped at the penultimate station. Passengers going to the final stop were directed to a new train for that station, so it all worked out and I was ultimately refunded the full price for my ticket.

It happened to me from Euston to Cov and they for us off at Northampton and had another train arranged for is to get on but so annoying!
