@elite.recruiter: Confidence at work is not a personality trait and it is not something you wait around to feel. It's the residue of doing uncomfortable things and living through them. The most self-assured people I've placed were never fearless. They acted before the fear cleared. Start here: 1️⃣ Say your number first, then stop talking. Name your salary or rate and let the silence work for you. 2️⃣ Send the email without softening it. Cut the "just," the "sorry," and say what you mean. 3️⃣ Ask for the raise, title, or project directly. Don't wait for someone to notice. The ask is the skill. 4️⃣ Let people watch you not know something. "I don't know, I'll find out" builds more credibility than bluffing. 5️⃣ Take the credit. When your work comes up, say, "Yes, that was mine." Own your wins. 6️⃣ Take the seat at the table and speak early. The longer you wait, the harder it gets. 7️⃣ Say no without a long explanation. "I can't take that on right now" is enough. 8️⃣ Follow up instead of assuming silence means you did something wrong. 9️⃣ Let yourself be disliked. You can't be universally liked and genuinely respected. Hold the boundary. 🔟 Put yourself in rooms you're not quite qualified for yet. Confidence comes after doing the hard thing.
