it's saying that males are so inherently sexually motivated that it occurs even in childhood, it's weirrrrdddddddd and it could easily deter boys from being friends and having normal or nuanced relationships with girls as their equals 💔

I heard a friend say a friend’s young child is going to grow up to be such a heartbreaker and I immediately told her - let’s not sexualise children. She didn’t take that well.

Absolutely agree it completely takes out the innocence of the child’s interaction. I’m not sure why any parent would want to reinforce the idea that smiling at someone of the opposite sex means that they’re flirting. And how confusing must it be when you give that tag to an older child who has no interest sexually in that particular gender.

I have a son. he's 14mo and I absolutely hate it when I hear someone making a comment suggesting that he's flirting or has preferences. no he's not and no he doesn't! he's quite literally just socialising and experiencing the world around him.

when a boy is friends with a girl and people talk about them having a girlfriend. then the kids think they cant just have a friend, its sexualised and becomes embarrassing. drives me mad

I constantly got called a heartbreaker and that I must have all the girls when I was young. The problem is I knew I was gay from very young so it filled me with shame and discomfort. It’s so unnecessary.

I got angry at my mum the other week for saying my friends 1 year old would “be a heart breaker when he’s older” WHY IS THAT YOUR FIRST COMMENT. Can he not just be cute?! It’s so so weird to me that so many can’t see how that’s fucking WEIRD.

No, it really is that deep. I hate when people say that to little boys. Or that he’s gonna be a ‘heartbreaker when he’s older’…My sister is blonde I’m brunette, I used to hear constantly how she’s gonna be a heartbreaker when she’s older…huh?! They’d tell me I’d grow up to be ‘trouble’. So not only already messaging one is more attractive down to hair but also presuming I’m going to be ‘trouble’ because I wasn’t as conventionally as attractive as she was when I was 3 🥹😅 it’s so weird.
