We have great news!...Baby Carrot and her mom are now rescued! They made it to Sam paws safely! Thank you all for helping me rescue these two. Little Carrot is the youngest elephant we've ever rescued (8 months). Let's keep it going! mom and the little one are in quarantine.

"Ya leil washi washi... lasmar tawal majashi... wel-forga morra", is an authentic piece of Libyan oral folk heritage a traditional wedding chant (shatwa) sung to the beat of the darbuka at celebrations, especially in Tripoli, Zuwara, and southern Libya. Its meaning is simple yet deeply human: a young woman addresses the night, lamenting that her "dark-skinned" beloved has been delayed and hasn't come, capturing the recurring theme of longing and separation found throughout Libyan folk chants. Like most of this oral tradition, it isn't attributed to any documented composer or songwriter it has simply been passed down through generations, with slight variations in wording from one region to another. Yet it has retained its place in the collective memory, and in recent years has surged back into popularity through platforms like TikTok and YouTube, carrying its simple, heartfelt voice to a new generation rediscovering and celebrating the beauty of Libyan heritage.
