I'm 35 years old and have never SEEN fractions explained this way. I was simply taught to multiply across, but this visual just connected dots that I had never connected before. amazing!

When I studied civil engineering, this is how math was taught to us. We need to learn the CONCEPT, not just the formula. Math problems get increasingly more complicated and learning the concept ensures you will never get lost. All of that on the 1st semester of my 1st year. I didn't finish but def stuck w/ me.

This made me cry because this is the first time this has made sense for my brain and now I now I can do this in future. I dropped math in year 9 because I had a different teacher almost every year and was so frustrated with the experience of feeling behind

THIS is why I never UNDERSTOOD fractions. I need to understand everything about it . multiply made kind of sense because just multiply across. but I never understood why or how. and then with adding/subtracting, I still don't understand wtf is going on

to me learning that “times” means “of” is more direct. he said it at the very end - what is 1/3 of 1/2 - much faster route to the picture
