I think the Longbotoms were in hiding too. But after the attack to the Potters and Voldemort's death they returned to their house because they thought the danger to their child was over .If i remember correctly they were attacked,a week after Voldemort's death, form the death eaters .They were all pourbloods so it's possible they darget them because they thought they had information for their masters death.

Also remember Neville’s grandmother was making him use his dad’s old wand the whole time too. So his magic wasn’t compatible with the wand so he was less powerful than everyone else. I think he got a new wand at the end of book 5 going into book 6.
