@maakiharukawa: ⚠️⚠️⚠️READ CAPTION ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️ add: since MANY of you lot need it capitalized, its GOODS THAT ARE NOT A NECESSITY. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT LUXURY GOODS. IF ONE CAN NOT AFFORD 3 EUROS OVER A LUXURY GOOD, ONE HAS OTHER STUFF TO WORRY ABOUT THAN WHETHER THEY CAN BUY A COSPLAY OR MERCH OR “PRETTY” (low quality) CLOTHES. AND YES I BELIEVE THERE ARE BETTER WAYS TO SOLVE THIS AND THEY SHOULDVE MADE HARSHER LAWS FOR LARGER CORPORATIONS BEFORE THEY WOULD DO THIS. HOWEVER THE OVERCONSUMPTION FROM FOR EXAMPLE CHINA, THE COUNTRY WITH THE MOST EMMISSIONS WORLDWIDE, NEED TO BE STOPPED ONE WAY, IF THE EU WERE TO TARGET ALIEXPRESS AND OTHERS DIRECTLY IT WOULD STIIIL BE MORE EXPENSIVE FOR THE CONSUMER. ITS HOW ECONOMY WORKS 😭 og caption: The law was also literally made to protect european/local shops so YOU CAN GET AND KEEP YOUR JOB AAAND for SAFETY concerns. Decreasing overconsumerism is actually even BAD for the economy as the economy thrives on consumers spending money. Not to mention a large amount of money the EU receives goes to…you guessed it!! CLIMATE!! And other important things such as giving money to poorer countries/regions to catch up with the wealthier western countries!! I thought we ALL are for that???? And dont even get me started on the working conditions of people making these things. + if you call 3+3 euros on top of a 130 euros cosplay with wig you were planning on buying anyway unaffordable you need to get your brain checked I am not telling you OH YOU GOTTA STOP THIS STOP THAT!!! , that would be hypocritical of myself on a few levels (not just buying stuff of aliexpress) but you genuinely cannot claim to be left and woke and say that you care about the climate then proceed to say this law is horrible just cause it affects you. #cosplay #theherta #cosplayer #HonkaiStarRail #hsr
it doesn't target the main problem and only inconvenience poor people 👍

defending the rich that pollute so much more is crazy.. put laws against shein and temu not the whole economy considering u have no idea what people need to order from afar

my package got sent back to Japan because the 3€ were not charged. Not only did I lose 50€, and will have to pay for shipping again, but the package will have to fly again, so instead of the emissions from one flight there will be emissions from three flights. But I'm sure the 3€ will make all the difference.

Sorry, but as someone who has to hunt down sales to get a T-shirt for 2$ instead of 10 because I'm fucking POOR, I'm definitely NOT happy with those laws.

them implementing this new law isn’t because they’re trying to fight fast fashion and climate change. they’ve implemented it because they want people to stop ordering from overseas and order from european webshops instead when even with the €3 tax per item, it’s still cheaper to buy stuff from overseas. not to mention half of the stuff we order from overseas isn’t even available in europe, like merch and cosplays.

To protect local shops... The same ones that order off of aliexpress etc. and mark up the price 5x? Or most of the time don't even have what I want?

of they wanted to go against fast-fashion they would only enforce such law on shein and temu for example, however this law affects high-quality products, small businesses etc. aswell, which just shows it was never about protecting climate.

it aint about that, and it isnt even inconveniencing the rich lmao, they will buy it anyways. this law is only there so the eu can resell the same stuff for a much bigger price, and its not fair towards many ppl who save up to buy their cosplay or any other stuff they want. yall genuinely need to stop acting like yall are better and morally superior than everyone, god forbid a poor family or teenagers who aren’t working yet/struggle to find a place to work in this economy want to treat themselves for something nice for once that doesn’t cost their liver. it doesnt make them selfish or an overconsumer so genuinely get off the high horse

Why are we making laws that affect common customers instead of brands that actually create the most waste and pollution? It won't stop rich people from buying either way

while this can be true large companies have to Pay nothing so its clear that they Just Want to Profit from the middle and lower class instead of protecting climate, also where does this Money Go into? i doubt it goes to climate help

It never was about climate but about money and economic cuz average eu price is 3 times higher than from china for example and eu doesn’t benefit from it at all. They aren’t really concerned about climate but how much eu sellers lost compared to china sellers. At least this how media presents it here

I mean I can see both sides, it's good to stop overproduction but that wasn't the main laws goal; that is to open possibilities for local shops. The problem is that most of these shops have the same product for three times the price while having the same quality. This also incoveniences the common people, and is again some sort of punishment to them, while the rich continue to worsen the climate. Of course overconsumption is also a big problem which should be limited in a way with a law but this law doesn´t stop the rich who usually overconsume, only the common people. oh jesus holy yapp but I do agree that there should be limitations towards overconsumption but on a larger scale that doesn´t just impact the common people.
