@jjj.forlayf: Jan's POV: Korea's airport felt bright and expensive. "Chef." "Hm?" "You've been staring at that man's shoes." "They're shiny." Jing laughed. "That got your attention?" "Unfortunately." She shooked her head in disbelief. "Ladies!" Jing and Piploy's manager walked over holding the week's itenerary. "Hotel check-in is ready." Before anyone could move, someone was waving behind them. "CIIZE!" Piploy sprinted over. Ciize laughed as she hugged her before walking towards us. "You must be Jan." I nodded and she smiled. "So you're the famous Jan." "Me?" Jing looked away. "I might've talked about you." Ploy laughed. "Girl, our group chat is 70% Jan." "Ploy!" "It's true!" The managers sighed. "Fine... You girls can stay at Ciize's place." They cheered. "YES!" "But..." Both managers pointed at them. "If either of you is late for call time, we're dragging you back to the hotel." "We'll be early." Jing dramatically saluted. Ciize laughed. "They'll be there before everyone." "Good." *** Ciize's home somehow reminds me of the diner. Our dinner quickly became louder. Ploy spilled juice. Ciize blamed the table. Jing blamed gravity. While I quietly grabbed tissues. Ciize watched me before smiling. "She's exactly how you described." I looked at Jing. "You described me?" Jing looked elsewhere. "Sometimes." Ploy nearly choked. "Yeah right. All you could talk about is Jan." "PLOY!" Jing somehow got flustered. While I on the other hand felt my ears getting hotter by the minute. *** The week passed by fast. Early call times. Runway rehearsals. Endless fittings. Photoshoots. Everyday I try to keep out in everyone's way. Sometimes I doze off on the couch. But mostly I watch behind the cameras. I now understood why everyone admired Jing. She thanks every stylist. Remembered every staff's name. Encourages nervous first-time models. She belongs here. Every few minutes, she looks around making sure I was nearby. When our eyes meet, she'd smile every single time. *** The final day arrived. As the lights dimmed, Ciize and I sat together. After a while, I slowly got up. "Where are you going?" Ciize whispered. "I'll be back." *** Turns out, finding flowers in Korea wasn't as easy as I thought. I got lost. Twice! Okay, maybe four times. I accidentally walked into a bakery. Then a convenience store. Finally, a tiny flower shop. The florist greeted me in Korean. I froze, I awkawardly pointed. "Flowers? Pretty." She smiled immediately. Apparently that was enough. By the time I found my way back, the finaly had already ended. Applause echoed in the venue. People congratulated designers. Photographers rushed everywhere. I hurried backstage. Trying to catch my breath. Then... "Chef?" I looked up. Jing stood there still wearing the final runway look. "You disappeared." "Congra... tu... lations." I awkwardly held the bouquet while catching my breath. She stared. "You bought these?" "I got lost. Several times." I scratched the back of my neck. "I can tell." She gently fixed the ribbon that came loose from all the running. Then she looked back at me. "Did you even watch the finale?" "...No." "What?" "I left before it started. I wanted to make sure I got back before you did." She blinked. "Chef." "Hm?" "Nobody bought me flowers after a show." "Really?" She nodded. "They congratulate the designer, the brand, the campaign." Then she looked at the bouquet. "Nobody ever thought about me." I reached over and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Well, I'm not here for the brand. "I came to watch..." "My pretty girl." Her eyes turned glassy, I panicked. "Did I say something wrong?" Instead of answering, she gave me the tightest hug. I laughed softly. "So... you liked the flowers?" She burried her face against my shoulder. "I love the person who gave them." Somewhere between Seoul and the little diner back home...
