I’m on my first year of an allotment and I’ve had fantastic success with everything but I thought I’d have a go at brassicas and I was worried about cabbage white butterflies so I checked every seedling from the greenhouse before I planted them ( and found pretty much one butterfly egg cemented to the underside of each leaf ALREADY which I carefully removed) and then I planted them all in raised beds with extremely thorough white insect mesh netting over, to keep the butterflies out and I was busy congratulating myself, but then the flea beetles came and they’ve absolutely decimated everything except for the Brussels sprouts. I’ve never seen anything like it they’re 100 and thousands in each bed and I’ve had to pull them all out apart from the sprouts which I’m carrying on with with absolutely tons of sticky traps so I’ll let you know how I get on with that. !!Have you got any other tips for flea beetles please? I’m in an allotment surrounded by other plots that have obviously built up flea beetles over time and they destroy rocket and nibble strawberries but the brassicas have just been decimated. I garden organically ; I haven’t used any pesticide whatsoever, but this is a bit heartbreaking.! I’m guessing that it’s so bad because it’s been so hot because I read that they don’t like damp. I’ll be grateful for any further tips.!
