I Have spend thousands on my nieces and nephews over 15 years including sending them on elaborate vacations all on my own dime, have never received a single gift back for birthdays or Christmas…my brother didn’t even give me a gift when I got married 🤷♀️can’t choose your family

once they have kids they dont get presents, I give them a scratchcard. however when low on cash I made everyone cookies. then last year I brought presents and everyone was gutted they didn't get their home made cookies...so I ended up making those too. this year im asking them all in advance if they want cookies OR gifts. funnily enough my sister who is single and has 5 kids and one grandchild got me the most presents. it does cost me way more than what I get back, but they say it's the gift giving and thought that counts.

Thankfully my family is reasonable. I dont want kids, and now bc of some medical issues Im actually incapable of having them (so good thing I didnt want any). I give gifts to my niblings bc I love them, but us adults dont give eachother chistmas gifts we decided, except my sister decided to still give me a gift bc she wanted it to be more fair, and omg I love her so much for that!

I’m child free by choice and my mom’s rule is until you have kids you get your usual amount of Christmas gifts. Once you have kids, you don’t get any and it all goes to the kids. I think I scammed the system pretty well 😏

my family has an agreement. I don't get them gifts, they don't get me gifts. they spend their money on the kids, I spend my money on myself. we just enjoy each other's company for the holidays

I did this same thing. I even cut back on birthday gifts. No one ever even acknowledged my birthday so I have finally decided to cut off all gifts

My brother has 6 children and I have 0…. I stopped going to Christmas because the family decided we all will just get presents for the kids! First couple of years I spent hundreds and received no Christmas gifts at all…. My sister and I who both have no children now spend Christmas together and get each other gifts and we spend way less money!

My brother and his wife have 8 kids and the birthdays, family outings and holidays drain me. The last gift I got was an $8 candle of a fragrance I hate. After that I decided I was done.
