And then you have 10 specialist and a full time job trying to keep track of info, meds, and all the drs want you to do. Then relaying that info to the other specialists that need to know. All while being in pain, brain fog, etc. For me I can’t tolerate sitting at my computer for very long so it’s hard to get all the info and organized so that you can refer to it when needed.

Every day, people like us, make the choices of whether we will shower, cook, do laundry, or if we're willing to pay the price...there's ALWAYS a price!! 😪

CRPS is such a bizarre syndrome that I 1. Get tired of explaining it and people look at me in disbelief 2. Tired of the pain 3. Tired of being exhausted…all the time.

It’s also a full time job: 1.) Making appointments 2.) Drive to appt. 3.) Waiting room. 4.) Dr. room. 5.) wait for/give labs 6.) wait for paperwork/checkout 7.) drive to pharmacy 8.) park/wait for rx 9.) leave pharmacy 10.) hope new meds work while waiting 90 more mornings, afternoons, evenings, and attempting life til next appt. 11.) rinse and repeat. That’s just for one Dr/med! Us chronic pain patients do this several times a week. Now include weekly physical, etc. therapy appts., and trying to actually live a life. 🥵

A cpl of days ago my 27 year old daughter was telling me she didn't feel good. I was telling her I was sorry to hear that. Then she said in a sarcastic voice..."Yeah mom it's my turn to not feel good." I felt so much SHANE, HUMILIATION & EMBARRASSMENT. I thought I was trying not to say outloud how I felt. I cried all the way from wk that day. I was already so mentally exhausted. I hadn't said a word to her about my pain that day. But she clearly has heard it too many times. I still haven't gotten over it. I now feel like the worst mother ever to have exposed my kids to my suffering. I just pray for strength. I still can't look her in the eye...😢

Just because I’m doing the activity and not crying in pain doesn’t mean I’m not in pain. I’m just good at hiding it. Or if I decide they are safe enough to tell them I am in pain while doing the activity all they remember is that I did it anyway so it can’t be that bad.

I love your videos. You really do understand. It’s so hard to find a doctor that understands. My last doctor sighed really loud and said oh gosh it’s the problem child

My dad is a whole ass physician's assistant and my mom is a nurse. I am someone with CPTSD/depression/anxiety, fibro, and kidney disease (IgA Nephropathy). It took til he was in his 70s and got sick to believe how hard for me things can get (mind you I work full time, have a masters, and am a single co-parent).

100%, I’m starting to try and find the language to have a FIRM conversation to explain that just because I’m not crying, moping around or moaning constantly all day doesn’t mean I’m not suffering. I have to rise above my pain and other health issues to survive the day.

I’ve been sick for 18 years. My mother views sickness as a moral failing. She’s judged me for years. I know she tries no to but it’s ingrained in her that sickness is a moral failing. She’s 76 and her health is turning. She has Alzheimer’s (fully diagnosed) exhaustion, and occasionally suffers PEs. She keeps telling me she is going to buck up and get over this, or if she just tried a bit harder she could get over this. It’s shocking. Like no, you can’t just will yourself well.

I find a dr who read my history of fibromyalgia. He immediately wrote a script for Norco. Which is fine and helps daily function. It was the fastest appt. However; my previous sr wrote a referral for Botox and nerve block. The new dr said those are just a temp fix. How do I bring up the combo of the 2 treatments plus preventative Rx helps as well?!?!

I'm 64 yrs old. I've lived with pain more yrs than I haven't. I've also been on oxycodone more yrs than I haven't. Doesn't make me "pain free", but, thank GOD, I'm at least able to live my life!! Many can't 😪🙏💖

Agreed they ask me my pain level and I said my pain level does not work with your arbitrary 1-10. Because I’m not losing it crying means my pain is not that bad

‘Performing pain’. This is where it’s at. Why do I feel like unless I am howling and crying, there’s no way I could be in significant pain. It makes you very cynical about medical appointments and whether or not it’s even worth attending.

Absolutely this. It feels like an injury to not be understood. One way I have found that resonates with people is to ask them if they have had dental pain. I’ve found many people have had it. Now I ask them to picture their tooth pain but in their knees, feet, neck, back, elbows, hands, ribs etc. It’s like having tooth sensitivity in my whole body. 😞

Omg yes, I’ve lost a relationship with my sister who thinks I’m lying. Mind you I only ever see once every few years because she lives interstate. She has never seen me at my worst, it was the snide comments about her still working and she would love to be at home. I’d would prefer to be at work earning money than my daily life that’s for sure. I’ve lost my life, career, house etc a relationship with my sister is nothing compared to what I’ve lost.

I bookmark nearly all your videos. I never know how to put into words what I'm going through. some days I don't think I can live anymore if it doesn't improve. Not just the non ending pain 24/7 but the crushing fatigue. I have no quality of life. I can't leave my home. I can't drive even as pushing the puddles and turning my head hurts too much and just wipes me. I take a day to recover going to the chemist or even having a 10 minute video call with my GP. 2 weeks ago she took me off 50mg Tramadol cold turkey after 21 years on it. I have progressive chronic illnesses and diseases and stage 4 endometriosis and my skin is even covered in sores All because it added up to too much medication in the system on her check. Ive been begging her for help for 5 years my family think all pain medication is the devil and I'm addicted. I'm like no Im dependant on it to move, stand, occasionally shower. It's been 2 weeks since I could have a shower I miss my 30 year school reunion today. my heart breaks after giving everything of myself for so many years. swim club secretary many cleaning jobs late nights and early mornings so I could homeschool my four boys who were all national swimmers and athletics as a single mum and be home during the day and do university full time all night as a single mum

I constantly feel like a fraud, but I also feel alot of shame. I know using mobility aids prevents me flaring in pain and fatigue the next day or 2. However whenever I don't i either end up in bed for a couple of days or push through and cause an even bigger flare.
