it'll take time ya'll. Jean's square mile radius freeze thing literally eroded the barrier the spell put to a certain point. That's why MJ went to the top of Midtown high and held the black dahlia and why Ned remembered the handshake. The reason MJ cried when she froze was becuase she literally started filling in the gaps. They only remember bits and pieces of their past now, jsut without Peter. This new foundation allows Peter to awaken their old memories like he does in the final scene. They will eventually get back together just not now.

His acting, was the realest thing. When he opened his mouth for a brief moment, like if there was a bad taste in his mouth, his eyes, the way you could feel, that hearing that was such a dagger to the heart. Tom captured that so well. I couldn’t stop sobbing when I was watching 🥺

My favorite aspect of the movies when he swings her back after she finds the letter and they don’t cut to him returning her to the apartment they show us taking her back and I think it’s such an excellent creative choice because for the first time she’s not freaking out, and I think she realizes the muscle memory of him holding her.(same with the handshake.) even if she can’t literally remember him. I think it’s a great visual demonstration of the theme of when you get to know somebody you’re not just a memory. You’re also physical embodiment and even if she never gets those literal memories back, I think that her and Ned both experiencing that literal muscle memory create a feeling and a tone around him that’s inviting so it leaves the movie with us wondering if the friendship is still there, but if it does happen, it will be evolved and different but not fully lost. Just evolved.
