I did care but I guess I didn't care enough. i realize the love I feel now that she's gone wasn't really there when she was with me. I do love her and I cant hurt more when I see the pain shes going through. ive never felt this pain like this before so I guess I didn't know what she was going through. I chose myself I let go of her and I ruined both of our lives because what could've been will never happen now unless God makes a miracle happen. I guess I spent my time convincing myself that we were meant together so nothing else mattered. now I will never stop regretting all the times I truly didn't care. now I will change, but this time its only because I realized it was my biggest regret to not do it before. ill grow up and stop making excuses but ill never get to be that person for the only one it will ever matter for so even though its pointless now its the only way ill ever feel close to her again so ill keep her hair bow and ill live everyday seeing her face only as a ghost now. I realized I loved her with my whole body but didn't give her all of the effort I would give to get her back. and I know she can never trust me again to her these may just be words, but ill live the rest of my life for her.

When someone who loves you realizes they've hurt you, you won't always get perfection, but you should see genuine ownership, sustained effort, and meaningful change. If years pass and the same wounds keep reopening despite countless conversations, it's reasonable to stop asking whether they understand and start asking whether this relationship can actually meet your needs.
