You have a structure problem. You’ve probably been there, thinking you need more rounds, more roadwork, more grind. But the chances are you aren’t undertrained, probably just mismanaged. 10 S&C mistakes I see constantly + what actually fixes them. 1. Random strength sessions.
If your lifting isn’t connected to your fight camp phase, it’s just exercise. Build in phases: base strength and aerobic work first, then power and threshold, then speed and refinement closer to the fight. 2. Running hard every time.
If every run feels like round five, you’re frying your nervous system man. Roughly 80% of your conditioning should be low intensity. Two easy aerobic sessions and one hard interval day. Done. 3. Confusing fatigue with progress.
Feeling smashed isn’t a metric. Track something real: sprint times, bar speed and technique, heart rate recovery between rounds. 4. No bracing strength.
If you can’t stay solid, you can’t transfer force. Add heavy carries, anti-rotation work and front loaded squats in your training. 5. No relative strength standards.
At minimum, aim for: 1.5x bodyweight squat, 2x bodyweight deadlift, 10 strict pull-ups, 60s hollow hold. Strength is force per exchange. 6. Building too much in fight camp.
Camp is for refinement, not chasing bloody PBs. Reduce volume 4-6 weeks out. Reduce intensity 1-2 weeks out. Fight week is speed and neural focusing. 7. No aerobic base.
If you gas, it’s usually poor aerobic development. Nasal breathing runs, conversational pace, 8-12 week blocks. 8. No dedicated power work.
Pads aren’t power training guys. Use med ball throws, jumps, light Olympic variations. Low volume with max intent. 9. No tracking.
Sleep, bodyweight, training load. Your trends matter. 10. Vague goals.
“Better cardio” means nothing. Define it properly, 2k row time, HR recovery after 3 rounds. Make it measurable. You got heart, dont lose because your system isn’t built to express your skill in round five. Save this and audit your week! 🔥 Comment “CAMP” if you want access to the full 12 week in camp program that takes the guess work out of your S&C. @Rose Mary 🇲🇲 #strength #strengthandconditioning #fighting #muaythai #performance
